From 19 till 23 August 2009 the GamesCom event took place in Keulen. Many game companies from the Netherlands presented their latest games at the Dutch Pavillion. The Dutch newsagency RTL made a report (Dutch only)
The foundation Kennisnet is a public ict support organization in the Netherlands. For one of the programs concerning the use of multi media in education, xmediaworks has developed a ‘mind-map-metro card’ which represents the experiences of the participants.
At the 5th World Water Forum in Instanbul this March the Dutch Water Platform (NWP) organised a session about watermanagent and gaming. xmediaworks presented a keynote on how serious gaming can inspire and contribute to the watermanagement sector.

The project management game Sharkworld has won the prestigious European Innovative Game Award.
The EIGA is hosted by the Ministry of Economics, Transport, Urban and Regional Development of the region Hessen in Germany in cooperation with the European Commision. The award ceremony took place on 6th November 2008.
That same day Sharkworld won the Dutch Game Award for best Serious Game.

The World Summit Award (WSA) is a global initiative to select and promote the world’s best e-Content, started in 2003 in the framework of the United Nations’ World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS). This is done through national contests, a global contest, held every 2 years, and numerous content-focused national and international conferences and workshops – the WSA Road Show.
WSA is an invitation project and a global hub for everyone, who sees the crucial importance of excellent e-Content creation within the new Information Society. As of today, 168 countries are actively involved in WSA. The WSA was held in Venice in November 2007.
